Soap and Glory Hand Food
This has been my go to hand moisturiser for the past year or so. It smells lovely, it dries fast and keeps my hands feeling lovely and soft and the scent is the Original Pink scent too. I literally haven't got a bad thing to say about it. There's always one in my bag. I tend to buy the smaller travel size one and they're only £2.50.
Make Up Gallery Well Polished Cuticle Oil (Pound shop brand)
This stuff is so good considering it was only £1 from the pound shop. I always get dry, brittle cuticles and when it gets to this time of the year it gets worse but this sorts it out and makes them much softer. I use to buy Lemony Fluttery from Lush but the result is almost the same for a fraction of the price.
Fudge Urban Iced Raspberry and Vanilla Hair Spray
I'm usually a Tresemme hair spray kinda girl but I bought this when I happened to see it on offer on ASOS a month or two ago and thought I'd give it a go. I think it was either £3 or £4. It's a very summery kind of scent to me and it lingers for hours after application. It holds my hair in place really well and I don't use as much as I used to when I was using my go to Tresemme hair sprays.
Dream Cream Moisturiser
I got this in my boxing day haul last year. I didn't really have the intention to buy the Home For Christmas gift set but if you don't know what Lush's website is like on boxing day... it's a nightmare. It crashes every 2 seconds and you end up just clicking on anything, checking out and hoping for the best that the transaction has gone through. So that's how I wound up with this amazing moisturiser. It's similar to the Twilight scent. It helps when my psoriasis sometimes flares up on my elbows which I seem to get more this time of the year and also the scent is so calming and helps me to get to sleep.
Soap and Glory The Righteous Butter
I feel like I should've just called this post "Kirsty's current favourite moisturisers" lol. This is the same scent as the Hand Food (Shea Butter and Marshmallow) but the consistency is a lot thicker because of it being a body butter. Basically it's just a bloody brilliant moisturiser which smells amazing and dries really fast. Cannot fault it.
MUA Undress Your Skin Highlighting Powder in shade Iridescent Gold
I've only just started wearing highlighter over the past year. Just because I used to have really oily skin. But since trying and testing new products out, my skin has now changed to a combination of oily and dry. So I feel more confident to wear highlighter. This product can make you look as if you're trying to look like a Golden Christmas bauble if you're a little heavy handed with your brush, I'm not going to lie. But since watching an NikkieTutorials video about applying contour and highlighter, I've started to wear a little under my blusher instead of it kind of sitting on top of my blush and looking out of place. It blends them together and gives off a nice glowy look. I also apply it under my eyebrows, tip of my nose and on my cupids bow. For for £3 at Superdrug this is a bargain. Definitely give it a try if you're looking for a budget highlighter.
I forgot to take a picture of this, oops! |
Clippers Snore and Peace Teabags (20 per box)
I love drinking tea that helps to promote sleep because I am a really bad sleeper. I can sometimes be still up at 4am, clock watching. It's something I've dealt with for literally years. I have a really bad habit of overthinking anything and everything at night. But I always tend to try out different "sleep teas" and see if they help. I don't know if it's the placebo effect or they actually help though. The usual sleep/calming teas contain Chamomile and Lavender etc but let's fact it, they smell nice but they don't always taste nice. But this one contains the usual Chamomile and Lavender but has Lemongrass, Lemon Balm and Spearmint too. The mint isn't really strong but it stops the Chamomile taste which I don't really like. Another reason why I like these is because they are individually wrapped, so they're good to pop in your bag and go. I don't just use them for helping me sleep either. I find them good when you're feeling a little bit stressed out. They don't work if you're wide awake at 10pm and want to be asleep by 10.30pm but if you're feeling a little sleepy already and you drink one of these, then you'll definitely on track for a good nights sleep. Zzzz
Pretty Wrinkle Care Gel Eye Patches
So first of all... I didn't buy these for wrinkles! I just thought it'd help to get rid of the dark circles under my eyes and it has helped a lot so far. You get 4 treatments in a pack and I've used two of the treatments so far. I got these ones from B&M for £1 but you can get them on Boohoo and on Amazon for £2 or £2.50 if you don't have a B&M near by. Like I've wrote earlier in this post, I usually don't sleep well. So I'm always walking around with dark, purple circles under my eyes.
Tresemme Keratin Smooth Masque
I was only using my Loreal Elvive Fibrology Hair Masque but I fancied a change so I bought this when it was on offer for £2 in Boots! and it's been one of my fave products over the past month. You know them days when you can't really be bothered to straighten your hair after you've quickly blow dried it but you don't want to be walking around with your hair resembling a birds nest? then this is what you need in your life. It's usual price is £5.78 and I would still pay full price for this. I wouldn't say it makes my hair perfectly pin straight. But it feels so soft, is more manageable and looks loads more healthier.
MUA Lip Switch Matte Shine Duo in shade Persian Plum
I bought this at the end of last year/beginning of this year because I think because it was in the sale and the fact Purple is my fave colour. I ordered it online and when it arrived I tried it and thought it just wasn't me and I've just thrown it in my make up bag and kind of forgotten about it. But over the past few months I've been trying different make up looks out and being more daring with my lip colours (and eyeshadow colours) So I've been using this and it's the perfect autumn/winter shade. They don't sell this shade anymore in the switch duos. But I have found an £1 MUA lipstick that's really similar here.
Poldark
I started watching this at the beginning of October and I've got one more episode of season one left to watch. I'm still so far behind! It did take a few episodes to get into this and figure out who's who and etc. But I love TV shows/movies that are based on things which have really happened. I'd rather watch a TV series/movie than watch and listen to an historian talking about what happened on a documentary. I didn't learn about Poldark at school either so the series is interesting and educational at the same time to me.
Black Mirror
I only started watching this because it kept popping up on my twitter feed. Everyone seemed to be talking about the new season. I knew it was a dark kind of series and that it was an anthology series but I didn't know it was a different story each episode. I thought it was like American Horror Story and how each season is based on different things. But I've watched the first 4 episodes of Season 3 and I'm hooked completely. The first episode called Nosedive and the third episode called Shut Up And Dance are probably the best I've watched so far. Really recommend this series if you're looking for something new to binge watch this winter.
So there's my October Favourites! I can't believe we're already in November... and just less than 7 weeks until Christmas! What were your October Favourites?
Also just want to add that I'm sorry for the bad quality/lighting on the photos in this post. I thought I'd be able to get everything I wanted to get done and still have time to take the blog photos but the dark nights have truly set in and my room was basically like a cave at 4pm lol x
