I've been meaning to write this blog post for a while but I've been switching up what I've been using a lot and trying to find the perfect selection of products for the Winter months. I think I've kind of found "the ones" now so I thought I'd share with you what I've been loving lately and what's been working for my problematic skin during the colder months.
For cleansing in the morning, I like to use the Soap and Glory Vitamin C Facial Wash, I find it really cleanses my face and leaves it feeling fresh and ready for the day. It's also suitable for all skin types and you get a huge bottle for £8 so it's a total bargain. For makeup removal in the evening, I've been loving The Body Shop Camomile Cleansing Butter because it literally removes everything spec of makeup and it smells lovely too as an added bonus. In the evening as my second cleanse I've been using the Sond Skincare Clean State Cream Cleanser* which you can read more about here. I've also been using the Superdrug Naturally Radiant Glycolic Toner every other day which is basically like a chemical exfoliation and it really helps to close pores and smooth out uneven skin (It's basically a dupe of the PIXI Glow Tonic but a lot cheaper).
For helping my dark circles under my eyes and puffiness I've mainly been using the Embroylisse Smoothing Eye Contour Care* which really helps to keep the area hydrated. I've also recently discovered the Rosehip Plus Oil Roll On* which can actually be used on your body but I prefer to use it on my face, particularly under my eyes as it has a metal roll-on ball which I find really refreshes the under eye area and helps to calm down any puffiness as well as keeping the area well nourished.
This is where it gets slightly more complicated depending on how my skin is acting day to day. If I have impending spots (you know what I'm talking about, those horrible under the skin ones) or a hormonal breakout then I'll pop on a few drops of The Ordinary Salicylic Acid 2% Solution because well, it's basically a game changer as it's great for bringing spots out or drying them up and getting rid (depending on what type it is, nice). The only trouble is that it's always out of stock everywhere, so I basically click on "Request Stock Notification" on every site I can lol. I also like to apply La Roche Posay Effaclar Duo+ to my T-Zone to calm down any redness and help to close large pores.
Then in the daytime, I have been liking The Body Shop Skin Defence because after using Glycolic Acid it makes your skin more sensitive to the sun so with it being SPF 50 I feel as if my skin is well protected, I'll admit I'm not struck on the scent but the product itself does the job. If I haven't used the Glycolic Acid for a few days then I'll probably opt for the Garnier PureActive Sensitive Moisturiser. In the night time, I've been opting for Rosehip Plus Nourishing Night Cream* which smells lovely and I really like that it isn't super thick and creamy like most night creams as my oily skin doesn't like that. I've also found that it really smoothes out my skin and calms any angry spots.

I nearly picked up that The Body Shop Cleansing Butter the other day but the tin looked really shallow and like I wouldn't get much use out of it! How long does a tin last you?Xx

You only have to use a small amount to remove all of your makeup so a tin usually lasts me a few months. I tend to pick it up when a 30%-40% off offer is on too :) x
DeleteLovely post, your photography is beautiful x https://candlesandfairylights.wordpress.com
ReplyDeleteThank you! :) x
DeleteI need to try that eye cream because I haven't found anything that really works! I'm also thinking about trying either the Effaclar Masque or the Himalayan Charcoal one!

That Chamomile Body Shop product looks lovely! I can't say I've ever come across a product of that scent before. I want to use more Body Shop products this year. I also won a product from The Ordinary but I'm yet to use it properly yet - I've heart great things about them though. Your photos are gorgeous <3

I'm always so impressed by superdrug skincare. I've picked up some amazing things for £3/4. Effaclar is a long time favourite too! x

Ohhhhh I need that bodyshop camomile cleansing butter, sounds soooo good for winter! Also, you've sold me on The Ordinary! I've read so much but I've still been skeptical, I think it's about time I give them a try! Gets rid of spots and it's cheap? I need that salicylic acid! x
