It's been a couple months since I wrote my last What I've Been Reading, Watching and Listening To Lately post. It's safe to say I've condensed my Netflix watch list over the past few months and I've also finally been in the mood to read and actually read a book for the first time in months! Anyway enough of the intro, let's move onto the actual post...
As I mentioned in one of my previous posts because of my health problems I’ve been spending a lot of time watching Netflix whilst lying in bed feeling miserable (just keeping it real lol). Talking of Netflix, they have been releasing some great original movies lately. Obviously the first thing I’ve got to mention in my what I've been watching section is To All The Boys I’ve Loved Before which so many people have been raving about and you're probably sick of hearing about it by now. Even though I’m 24, I’m a sucker for a teen rom-com and I loved this so much. It’s about a girl who has written and also addressed letters to any boy she’s had a crush on (there's 5 in total, I think?), including her friend Josh who is also her sisters boyfriend and also Peter who is her former friend Gen's on-off boyfriend, who everyone seems to fancy and Lara has had a crush on since 7th grade. Long-story short, her younger sister Kitty finds the letters and sends them out to make Lara’s life a bit more exciting and to hide the fact that she had a crush on Josh her sister's BF she starts a fake relationship up with her crush since 7th grade Peter as a cover story who also wants to make his on-off girlfriend jealous.
I also watched the final instalment of The Maze Runner films last month. The final one is called The Maze Runner: The Death Cure which carries on from where the second film ended, I don’t really want to say too much because I might spoil it for people who haven’t watched the first and second films. I haven’t read the books, so I didn’t know what to expect at all and I think it was probably my favourite one out of the trilogy. There was lots of twists and turns and characters returning and some rebelling etc and I just really liked it. If you’re a fan of The Hunger Games and/or Divergent then I definitely would recommend The Maze Runner trilogy.
Good Girls which is on Netflix was definitely one of the funniest TV shows I've watched in a while and I ended up binge watching it because every episode seemed to end on a cliffhanger and I just wanted to know what happens next. It's about three mothers living in Detroit, Beth and Annie who are sisters and are basically polar opposites and Ruby who is Beth's best friend who has an unwell daughter and is struggling to pay for her medical bills. Because of various different things going on in each of their lives and they are all struggling to make ends meet, they decide to pull off an heist at a Supermarket... where Annie works. But they soon realise that the heist was the easy part, it's what they've now accidentally got themselves into what's the problem...
A few nights ago whilst I couldn't sleep I decided to watch Ingrid Goes West which has been on my watch list for a while. I didn't really know what to make of it at first. It's about Ingrid who is obsessive social media stalker and after a brief stay in an mental hospital she moves to LA with money left to her by her mother in her will to befriend an instagram influencer she stumbles across in a magazine. She follows Taylor Sloane's footsteps, visits her favourite brunch spots, buys the same clothes as her and even has her hair done in a similar way to her. It's a bit weird but I did think it was a pretty good film, I do think it kind of takes the piss out of instagram influencers a little but it is funny. It also makes you rethink about what you share online about yourself and your favourite places to go and etc.
Lastly on this list has got to be Safe, it took me a while to actually get around to watching it as I just wasn't sure whether I'd like it. It's about widowed father of two daughters and how he's finding it hard to connect with them both but then his eldest daughter 16 year old Jenny goes missing after a party and so does her boyfriend and her dad tries to retrace her steps and figure out what's happened to her. It's like a crime/mystery drama and I really enjoyed it. I'm lucky I didn't see any spoilers before I finished watched it because everyone was raving about it and now I get why.
To be honest, I haven't really listened to that much music recently. So I can't really give you an update and talk about new songs or artists I've discovered lately.
What have you been enjoying reading, watching and listening to lately?
I love new recommendations on what to watch! Good Girls seems good, I may have to watch it! Sorry you haven't been to well, wishing you well soon xxx
