Me and my cousins were basically brought up on homemade chips, buttercream filled cake and mint imperials by my Granddad Steve. Whenever you visited his house you could guarantee you would end up being given at least one of the above. So now, I always find homemade chips and even the smell of homemade chips really nostalgic and almost comforting since he's been gone. So when I've had a rubbish day I will sometimes treat myself to some granddad-style homemade chips in the deep fat fryer with some salad (just to make it a tiny bit healthier haha). But sometimes changing something up a little is good so I've been using the Schwartz Perfect Shake Chips Seasoning recently which is expertly blended with Paprika, Onion and Garlic to give them a nice, slightly spicy taste which makes it an even tastier, more-ish meal, especially during the colder months! Plus it's great that it's fuss-free because you just have to sprinkle it on once you've plated up the chips.
I've also tried and tested the seasoning on Butternut Squash Waffles which I try to eat a few times a week now because butternut squash is a good source of fibre and also good for digestion, blood pressure as well as your skin and hair too. However, I do find that it tastes quite bland and earthy (similar to sweet potato) so I've been sprinkling the seasoning on before I put the waffles in the oven and it definitely makes the flavour better. I tend to just make my butternut squash waffles with some roasted veg such as carrots, salad potatoes and cauliflower and it's just a nice filling meal.
I've also found that the seasoning works really well sprinkled on a jacket potato too if you're looking to add some extra flavour but don't want to add a filling that's high in fat such as cheese (which I'm trying to cut back on). I tend to buy microwavable jacket potatoes, just because I find them quicker to make. I usually put mine in for around 8-9 minutes, depending on the size of the potato and then afterwards, I slightly cut the potato in quarters (kind of marking it out) and then I sprinkle the seasoning over the top and put the potato in the oven until the top is a little crispy. It smells so nice when you take it out of the oven and a good way to add flavour!
If you're interested in trying any of my tried and tested meals above then you can pick up the Schwartz Perfect Shake Chips Seasoning at Tesco for just £1.60. I'm definitely going to be picking up a few more different seasonings and try some more out on my go-to meals.

Well doesn't this just look delicious! I am all for one adding up and mixing up what I eat and cook. Adding spices is definitely one way to do so! This looks so good x

I've been really into cooking lately and this sounds so good! I've been looking for something to go on chips, so I definitely need to pick this up. Such a sweet story about your Grandad too xx
