They sent over the 5% CBG Oil (10ml) RRP £38.50* and 18% CBD Oil (10ml) RRP £105* for me to try out and I was actually quite excited to give CBG a try as I'd never tried it before.
Like CBD, CBG is legal in the UK, non-psychoactive and won't get you high as it contains little to no THC. The difference between the two is that CBG is a cannabinoid that is only produced in the early stages of the cannabis plant growth cycle and it's known for its potential health benefits with it being more potent. It's the "Stem Cell" of CBD and other cannabinoids and according to research CBG has antibacterial effects and is known to either kill or slow the growth of bacteria and reduce inflammation. I must admit after only using the 5% CBG drops a handful of times, I feel like it works just as well as CBD but with less amount of drops. Usually, I use around 5-7 drops, anywhere between 1-3 times per day depending on my pain and/or anxiety and the strength of CBD oil I'm using. Whereas after using just 4-5 drops of CBG (2mg per drop) I get the same relief with my usual level of daily pain and/or anxiety which is interesting and kind of proves the claim of it being more potent, it also doesn't really taste any different to the usual CBD taste which I would describe as kind of earthy and natural. So although it is slightly more expensive to what I'm used to paying, it does kind of work out cheaper as I've been using less amount of product per use. It was also voted "Best in Test 2019".
I've also been trying Herts Hemp's 18% CBD Oil (10ml) RRP £105* which is the highest strength CBD oil I've ever tried as it contains 6mg per drop and it definitely helped with my recent bad pain flare-up, although it didn't completely stop the pain, it helped to take down the inflammation/nerve feeling pain in my back and hips which gets that bad sometimes, it can actually affect my ability to walk properly and stand up straight. It's definitely going to be my go-to CBD oil when my pain is really intense. I wouldn't be able to use this every single day as I just wouldn't be able to afford it if I'm being totally honest. I'd probably need at least two bottles a month and I just don't have the budget for that, especially at the minute with how things are. However, I will be keeping this aside for my really bad pain days when nothing else feels like it working (such as painkillers, my hot water bottle, tens machine, lower strength CBD/G etc) and I would repurchase it when I run out of my current bottle. Again, it has an earthy, natural taste but it's not super bitter like some CBD products I've tried before even with it being a stronger %.
Something else I've noticed about the Herts Hemp products is that the droppers feel really good quality and sturdy, which I know is a weird thing to say but some other CBD oils I've tried (both paid for and gifted), sometimes I feel like their lids/droppers seem a bit cheap and don't pick up the oil easily which could be an issue if you have mobility problems with your hands or fingers. Overall I would 100% recommend Herts Hemp. If there's anything else you want to know about their products then their website is super helpful and easy to use. They also have their product test results available to view on their website which are verified by specialist cannabinoid testing laboratories.
