I try to finish doing any work at around 5-30-6pm, but it kind of depends on if I'm behind or if I've got a lot on and want to get on top of it because I hate when I have things on mind that need doing. After I've finished work, I'll then cook my dinner and usually whilst I'm waiting for my dinner to cook I tend to just chill and watch TV which tends to be the soaps around that time of the day.
After I've eaten my dinner and I've let it settle I'll hop in the shower. I definitely opt for showers more in the summer because I honestly feel like I'm going to pass out if I have a bath on a hot or humid day. I'm really enjoying using more fruity or citrusy scented products in the shower at the minute such as the Soap & Glory Sugar Crush Body Scrub which I rediscovered recently. It's not as scrubby as my all-time fave scrub which is the Smoothie Star Breakfast Scrub from S&G but it's super refreshing and zingy.
I've been trying to let my hair dry on its own to limit how much heat I'm using, however, if I leave it to dry completely on its own it turns into a big frizzy mess. So I'll pop it in a towel for around half an hour or so and during this time I'll do my skincare and scroll through my social media for a little while. For my evening skincare, I'm currently reaching for my Glossier Milky Jelly Cleanser or the Dermalogica Active Clay Cleanser* depending on how my skin is behaving. I'll then apply a face mask (I don't do this every evening but probably 2-3 times per week). If I remember then I'll pop my face mask or sheet mask in the fridge so it's super refreshing on the skin when I apply it which is lovely if it's been a hot day. I'm still really enjoying using the Fat and The Moon Pimple Mud Mask* on any spots and the Tropic Skincare Deep Hydration Mask everywhere else as it's really refreshing and soothing. Once I've removed my face mask(s), I'll then pop on some glycolic acid which I use most nights and a lightweight moisturiser.
After I've quickly blast dried my almost dry hair with the hairdryer, I sometimes meditate. At the minute the only form of meditating I do is deep breathing exercises but I do think that doing deep breathing exercises really helps to relax my mind and body. I also like to light a candle or melt a wax melt and spray a sleep mist on my bed before I meditate as I feel like it's a nice extra step to set the relaxing mood.
I aim to get into bed at around 10-10.30pm, even if I'm not feeling particularly tired. I also always make sure to wear cotton pyjamas during the summer as they're more lightweight and breathable, I hate anything that feels slippy and clingy like satin. At the minute I'm not falling asleep until 2-3am in the morning, sometimes later which isn't ideal but my sleeping pattern a bit of a mess right now. Once I'm in bed I like to use this time to either play on my Switch - I'm loving Rollercoaster Tycoon Adventures at the moment as I find it super relaxing, watch TV, catch up on Youtube and also do some online window shopping on my phone or tablet as I'm personally still avoiding unessential shopping trips due to Corona. I'm currently on the lookout for some new homeware pieces just to change things up a little. I've been looking at buying a new storage unit and a small rug for my bedroom, some new bathroom mirrors for both the downstairs loo and the main bathroom upstairs as well as a new bathroom cabinet as my skincare collection has made the current cabinet's shelf to bend in the middle, oops haha! I'll continue to watch TV or Youtube, play on my Switch and do some online window shopping until I start feeling sleepy and then I'll switch everything off and try and go to sleep.
So there's my summer evening routine... How do you unwind in the evening?
I love the Soap and Glory Scrubs!, My favourite at the moment is the Call Of Fruity one, you'll love it if you like fruity scents. It's become my go to for the summer now, I tend to sway towards the smoothie one in the winter because I find the scnent so warming. I keep hearing everyone rave about Glossier but I'm still yet to try their products
