I'm back again with another Roccabox review and this month's box theme is based on Under The Sea. The contents in August's box is worth almost £95 so as always you're getting an absolute steal with the box costing just £10 + p&p! I also have a 20% off code for your first box (not an affiliate code) which I'll be popping at the bottom of this blog post so feel free to use it if you're interested in snapping up this month's box.
First up is the INC.redible YouGlow Girl Pigment Pot worth £8*. There are two possible shades that are chosen at random and these are Have I Got Your Attention and Ready To Be Famous. I received the shade Have I Got Your Attention which is described as a golden bronze but it also has a warm reddish cooper tone running through it in certain lighting too which I really like. It can be used on your eyes, lips or cheekbones (or all three!) so it's ideal for a festival or a party. I personally would opt to use this on my eyes either on its own or over a medium brown shade just to make it a little more interesting. I can already see myself using this around Christmas time! (Yes I just mentioned Christmas in August...).
Next is the Dr Botanicals Seaweed Bio-Repair Treatment Mask* worth a whopping £44! It's enriched with Japanese Wakame Seaweed and Shea Butter which helps to hydrate your skin and leaves it feeling super smooth. You can wash it off after 10 minutes or leave it on as an overnight treatment, it's entirely up to you. I am a little cautious when it comes to seaweed in products because I find that sometimes it makes my face go all red, hot and blotchy so it obviously doesn't always agree with me (which is why I've had to stop using a lot of skincare products from LUSH). However, I have done a little patch test of this on my cheeks which is where I tend to react the most and it seems to be okay. I can see this being a nice product to use when the weather gets colder and my skin gets slightly drier.
The SportFX Game Changing Mascara worth £9.99* definitely piqued my interest because it's not just a standalone mascara, it also has a waterproof mascara remover on the opposite side. You still have to use a cotton pad or flannel to remove the mascara but it definitely helps to loosen it and makes it easier to remove. The mascara itself is waterproof as expected and has been made to withstand sweat, water and the sun. As much as I love it, waterproof mascara is a pain in the arse to remove so I think the added remover is a genius idea. The mascara doesn't make my eyelashes do anything amazing though which is a shame, they just look pretty standard which I think is down to the wand being quite straight and not curvy, however, I am currently testing a new eyelash growth product so that might make a difference soon (hopefully!).
They also popped in some May Beauty Pore Strips worth £7* (for a pack of 2). I know pore strips are "bad" but they are so satisfying to use, especially when you know you've got some big blackheads on your nose that need sorting out. I haven't actually got around to trying these yet but a pore strip is a pore strip at the end of the day so I can't imagine them not working.
I'm really looking forward to giving the Monuskin Soothing Hawaii Facial Oil worth £23.95* a try when the weather gets colder. My skin is just too oily to use a facial oil right now so I haven't tried this yet but I have tested it on the back of my hand and it smells so nice! It kind of smells like aromatherapy oils. I really like Monuskin's revitalising moisturiser for combination skin so I already have high hopes for the facial oil.
Lastly is the BumbleZest Ginger CBD Turmeric Sparkling Water Can worth £1.89*. I'm sure by now you know that I use CBD daily for my chronic pain and my anxiety and I find that it really does help me. So when I saw this in my box, I was excited to give it a try. It contains 10mg of CBD which is pretty good when it comes to the price and it's nice to try something a little different. The drink itself tasted very gingery to me over anything else which is okay but not my personal preference when it comes to flavoured drinks so it's not something I would pick up again.
Overall I thought this box was okay, I definitely feel like there have been better Roccabox boxes. But it's still a nice way to treat yourself once a month and a good way to try out different products or be introduced to brands you've never heard of before. I also like that you always get a decent selection of products inside a Roccabox too.
