In today's post, I'm talking about the latest release from Dermalogica which is their Hydro Masque Exfoliant* which they describe as a 5-minute masque which smoothes and renews for luminous, healthy-looking skin. It's definitely aimed at more dry/dehydrated and sensitive skin types and although my skin is oily, I was definitely intrigued to give it a try, especially with it now being autumn which is when my skin can become a little dry in certain areas.
It contains Bamboo Powder which exfoliates and primes the skin for optimal hydration, Snow Mushroom which holds 450x its weight in water and infuses the skin with hydrating antioxidants and Vitamin D. It also contains Jojoba Ester and Amino Acids which have been derived from Sugar Beets which hydrate the skin and help to strengthen the skins moisture barrier. The packaging is quite unique as well as it has a squishy button on the top of the product which pushes the product out easily. I also really like the fresh cucumber extract scent of the product as well, it's really nice and refreshing and whilst also being soothing on the skin.
How to use the product:
After you've cleansed your face and neck with your usual cleanser, you then apply and massage the masque in circular motions until the spheres disappear. Then you leave the mask for 3-5 minutes and rinse thoroughly and moisturise with your usual moisturiser. Although I tend to leave the masque on for a little longer.
Results and my overall thoughts:
I definitely feel like my skin looks and feels more hydrated and smoother after using the Hydro Masque Exfoliant. Although I do personally prefer a grittier face exfoliating scrub/mask like the Dermalogica Daily Microfoliant which is aimed at more of an oilier/combination skin type. However, I do think I will use this throughout the colder months when my skin can become slightly drier and dehydrated.
The Hydro Masque Exfoliant* is priced at £55 for 50ml which I do think is pretty pricey for only 50ml of product. I understand and appreciate the technology that goes into Dermalogica's skincare but because it's not something that I feel I need in my skincare line-up consistently, I probably wouldn't pick this up again. I do think it's a nice product and it does what it says on the tin by hydrating your skin and making it look nice and plump and refreshed but I just tend to opt for products that are aimed at an oilier or combination skin type. However, if you have a drier/sensitive skin type and it's within your budget, then I would recommend giving it a try.
