I love making the house look and feel really homely and cosy during the colder months and throughout this year I've been switching things up quite a lot because we've all obviously had to be at home a lot more than usual. So I thought I'd share with you some things which I've added to my Autumn/Winter home wishlist. I've got a mixture of furniture as well as some quite simple little things just to make the house feel and look cosier for the colder seasons.
George at Asda Bronze Leopard Shaped Table Lamp £35 / George at Asda Pom Pom Teddy Throw £15 / Great Furniture Trading Company Monaco Solid Oak Double Ottoman Bed £739
First up is a lamp and I really do think that the right lighting is what makes a home feel extra cosy in the evening and I really love the leopard shaped table lamp I came across on George at Asda, I think it looks so pretty and would look so nice with a warm light. I also think it's a steal at £30!
I've already bought a few new cosy throws to use around the house but I spotted the Pom Pom Teddy Throw whilst browsing the George at Asda website recently and now I obviously want it, purely because of the added pom poms I'm not going to lie.
I also really want to buy a new bed in the next couple of months. There's nothing wrong with the bed I have but I just think it looks quite plain with it being a standard Divan bed and because its against a wall, I can't actually access all the storage drawers easily. I can't decide on whether to get an Ottoman or a standard wooden bed and just put long storage boxes on wheels underneath. I've been using Kasera which is a furniture and home decor comparison website to help me browse a variety of beds from different companies in one place and there's a helpful Shortlist button where you can add anything that's caught your eye. I think the Great Furniture Trading Company Monaco Solid Oak Double Ottoman Bed is at the top of my list at the moment.
Barker and Stonehouse Apollo Dining Table - £449 / Matalan Trailing Plant in Ceramic Pot £14 / Dunelm Riva Bloom Double Duvet Set £35
As I've said in a previous home/interiors blog post, we're hoping to get a conservatory probably around Spring next year and we've already started to think about what furniture we want inside and we've been thinking that a round marble dining table would probably be best and I came the Barker and Stonehouse Apollo Dining Table whilst browsing the Kasera website and I think it looks really nice, I love the contrast between the marble and the brushed brass base.
I literally can't do a wishlist without adding at least one fake plant. As I've said before, I'm not very good at keeping plants alive, unless they're succulents. I really love trailing plants but I've tried and failed to keep them alive numerous times so I only buy fake trailing plants now and I really like the one I came across on Matalan and I think it would look really nice on a shelf.
If I'm going to buy a bed then I'm obviously going to use it as an excuse to buy a few new duvet covers (even though I have loads already!). The Riva Bloom Duvet Set from Dunelm would look so nice with the bed I've got my eyes on and it would also fit in well with my room as I have teal walls and a brick feature wall behind my bed.
Argos Home Lawson Office Desk £50 / Next Hanging Woven Mirror £28 / Matalan Circular Metal Shelf £25
I've realised that I definitely need more storage space for anything office related, including my big printer. I bought a small "does the job" kind of desk a few years ago but it's just not big enough for all of my office things and my cats also like to use it as somewhere to explore so I really need to get one that's a bit bigger, has a door and will fit into the style of my room. The rest of the furniture in my room is the oak effect so the Argos Home desk would work well and it's only £50.
I really love the look of woven mirrors and the one I spotted from Next just ticks all of my boxes. It's detailed but also big enough to use as a proper mirror and not a lipstick check kind of mirror.
Lastly is the Matalan Circular Metal Shelf which I think would look nice either in the downstairs bathroom or in the kitchen, although I do kind of want some proper wooden shelves in the kitchen which will hold everything from cookbooks to spices, pasta, a trailing plant and more.
Have you got your eyes on anything home-related at the moment?
