If you've been following my blog or socials for a while then you'll probably know by now that I'm a big skincare lover. Dermalogica are definitely one of my go-to skincare brands because there's just no messing about with them, you get exactly what they say they're offering. Some of my favourite skincare products are from Dermalogica such as the Redness Relief Essence, Daily Microfoliant*, The AGE Bright Clearing Serum and the ClearStart FlashFoliant Brightening Foam. They've recently added two new products to their ClearStart range which was created for teen and young adult skin types that have breakouts, blackheads and shine. The new products which have recently launched are the Cooling Aqua Jelly Moisturizer RRP £22* and the Micro-Pore Mist RRP £19* and I've been testing them out for a little while now and I thought it was about time I shared my thoughts.
The Cooling Aqua Jelly Moisturizer* is described as the "moisturizer made for oily skin". As I've said before I prefer gel moisturisers or gel-cream hybrids more than creams because they just work better for my oily skin because they're a lot more lightweight and don't feel like they're blocking my pores. Dermalogica's latest moisturiser hits the nail on the head for me. It's super lightweight, thanks to its jelly-like consistency and doesn't leave my skin feeling tacky after applying. It also smells really nice which I think is the Blue Tansy Flower Oil present. I can see myself using this all of the time in the Summer because it really does help to reduce oiliness without making your skin feel stripped as it leaves you with a natural, dewy glow. It also feels really cooling and refreshing on the skin.
It contains a retinol-like bioflavonoid complex that helps to reduce excess oil and refine the skin, Hyaluronic Acid which helps to lock in moisture to deeply hydrate the skin as well as Blue Tansy Flower Oil and Blueberry Extract to help calm and soothe your skin whilst providing antioxidant benefits.
I'll be honest, I've pretty much stopped using face mists now as I just don't feel like I see massive benefits from them. I tend to just use them to refresh my skin, particularly during the warmer months but that's it. However, Dermalogica's new Micro-Pore Mist* definitely intrigued me when I saw that it contains Niacinamide as I find Niacinamide really helps to clear up active spots and reduces pores. Dermalogica claims that the Micro-Pore Mist minimises visible pores, reduces excess oil and refreshes your skin. The bottle is also made from 50% recycled plastic.
It contains Niacinamide to help diminish the appearance of pores, brighten the skin and even skin tone whilst the antioxidant-rich blend of Witch Hazel, Green Tea and Matricaria Flower Extracts provide a pore-tightening effect. It also contains Cucumber Extract which refreshes the senses for a cool pick-me-up.
First of all the spray applicator isn't aggressive which gets a big thumbs up from me because I hate when products have a spray applicator that basically attacks you when you use it and leaves you looking like you've just splashed your face with water. The mist has a very fresh cucumber-y scent which I did kind of expect and I like as it automatically makes you feel refreshed.
In terms of results, I do feel like it has helped to minimise the number of active spots I've had popping up recently as well as large pores I have on my chin which I'm guessing is something to do with the Niacinamide and Witch Hazel and I feel like it's a great quick way to "treat" my skin if I'm not in the mood to do a full-on skincare routine. My skin isn't amazing right now because I'm mega stressed due to my health not being great right now because I'm dealing with some new health problems daily on top of my chronic pain (hence why I haven't been posting as much as usual) but I've definitely seen a difference since using the Micro-Pore Mist and it's really refreshing to use throughout the day as well.
Overall both of the products get a thumbs up from me. They're both affordable and they both seem to work for my skin. I really like the lovely floral scent of the Aqua Jelly Moisturizer and the Micro-Pore Mist is a great little refreshing quick fix.
Have you tried anything from the ClearStart range?
