A Review Of Nivea's Hydra Skin Effect Range

Nivea have recently launched their new Hydra Skin Effect range, the range is suitable for all skin types and consists of the Micellar Wash Gel RRP £4.99, Micellar Water RRP £6.99, Hyaluronic Acid Serum RRP £12.99*, Wake Up Day Gel Cream RRP £9.99* and their Regenerating Night Gel Cream RRP £9.99*. I’ve been trying out three of the products for a little while now and I thought it was about time that I sit down and write about how I've been getting on with the products.

The Hydra Skin Effect Hyaluronic Acid Boosting Serum* is to be used after cleansing to help to give your skin an extra boost of hydration and to prep your skin for the rest of your skincare routine as it activates your skin’s own Hyaluron production. It has a water-like texture and you only need 4-6 drops per use. I really like how easy it is to use as you just pop the product in your hands and apply it to your skin and it leaves your skin looking glowy and plump. They also claim that it absorbs within 20 seconds and I definitely agree with that claim which is good because I really don’t like products that sit on top of the skin feeling sticky whilst taking ages to sink in. It’s not a product I personally feel that I need every day as my skin is a combination of oily (in the T-Zone area) and normal/dry everywhere else but on my drier skin days, I will definitely reach for this for extra hydration. 

The Hydra Skin Effect Wake Up Day Gel Cream* has a nice lightweight texture which kind of reminds me of the Clinique Moisture Surge which is one of my all-time favourites but obviously it comes with a bigger price tag. However the Hydra Skin Effect Wake Up Day Gel Cream has more of a refreshing feeling on the skin and it also smells lovely too, I would describe the scent as fresh and uplifting which is fab for first thing in the morning. I will definitely pick this moisturiser up again when I run out.

As I’ve said before, I’m not usually super keen on a night cream as I tend to find them quite heavy on my skin, particularly when it’s leaning more on the oily side. However the Hydra Skin Effect Regenerating Night Gel Cream* is only a little thicker than the Day Cream and it melts into your skin quickly which I like too. Again, I wouldn’t say it’s essential for my combination skin type but if you have a drier skin type but want something that applies effortlessly and sinks into your skin quickly then this might be the one for you.
