A Review of The Inkey List's Mandelic Acid Treatment

In today’s post I’m reviewing The Inkey List’s Mandelic Acid Treatment RRP £9.99* which I’ve been trying out for a little while now. Its gentle lightweight formula is derived from bitter almonds and blended with Retinol which helps to regulate oily skin. The AHA treatment chemically exfoliates and removes dead skin cells and it also helps improve the skins texture and hyperpigmentation.

First of all, I really like the packaging design by The Inkey List as it’s simple and straight to the point. Sometimes you just don’t need the fancy or colourful packaging and a lot of the time, you pay extra for said packaging too. So if you’re on a budget then The Inkey List is a great place to start if you’re looking at adding some new products to your skincare routine.

The directions say to apply a thin layer of the 10% Mandelic Acid Treatment after cleansing your face in the PM and to leave the treatment to absorb before applying moisturiser. Also make sure you use SPF when using this product as it is an AHA so it can make you more sensitive to the sun.

After a few weeks of use most evenings I have seen some small improvements in the texture of my skin as well as hyperpigmentation, particularly around my eyes and cheek bone area. However I don’t think it’s helped my oiliness, but to be fair around this time of the year my skin does tend to go a little crazy in terms of oiliness and I’ve also been dealing with hormonal skin and breakouts too.

The gentle formula hasn’t irritated my skin in any way which is great. Overall, I think it’s a good product for the price. It’s a shame it hasn’t helped the oiliness (so far) but that might be more of a me problem than the product not working.

  1. That's quite amazing that a product that sounds like it would be super abrasive is still so gentle on your skin! I don't think I've ever used that ingredient before! xx
