Dermalogica recently added a new product to their Clear Start Range with their Breakout Clearing Liquid Peel* which as the name suggests is a treatment to help clear breakouts and also helps to smooth skin texture. It contains Lactic, Mandelic and Azelaic Acids which all help to brighten and even the skin tone and Salicylic Acid which helps to combat breakouts and blackheads. The Breakout Clearing Liquid Peel does this by exfoliating deep under the skin to remove dead skin cells and excess oil. According to Dermalogica’s research, 95% of people using the product saw an improvement after just one week.
Priced at £29 for 30ml the treatment is to be used 1-2 times per week after cleansing in the evening. To use the treatment you just apply it, leave it on for 7-10 minutes (a slight tingling sensation is normal) and then you rinse away with cool water and follow with a moisturiser. Also, remember that AHAs and BHAs tend to make your skin more sensitive to the sun, so don’t forget to apply SPF each day!
For me, after using the Breakout Clearing Liquid Peel a couple of times, I would say that this seems to work the best on whiteheads and it works okay on blackheads but it hasn’t blown me away, but maybe I’ve just got some stubborn, deep blackheads that need me to use the treatment a little longer to break them down properly. I definitely feel like the Breakout Clearing Liquid Peel has helped with my skin texture and it leaves my skin looking and feeling really smooth and soft which is something I noticed after the first use.
Overall, I would repurchase the Breakout Clearing Liquid Peel because I do struggle with breakouts and I can definitely see and feel a noticeable difference after each use and a little seems to go a long way too. I feel like it would work really well for people who struggle with acne and/or hormonal breakouts, however, if you’re struggling with blackheads and that is your main skin concern, then I think I would recommend trying their Blackhead Clearing Fizz Mask RRP £23 over the Breakout Clearing Liquid Peel first.
