Things I've Been Loving Recently...

I’m back with another favourites kind of post, talking all about the things that I’ve been loving over the past couple of months. There’s a mixture of skincare, hair care, body care, a couple of games and a snack that I’ve become obsessed with since I started my health kick journey.

First up is the Superdrug Fruity Shower Gel in Candyfloss which I saw quite a few people talk about on TikTok because it smells like Snow Fairy from LUSH. I don’t think it’s an exact dupe but it’s really close and as much as I love LUSH shower gels, they have shot up in price so if I can find something that’s a close dupe for a fraction of the price then I’ll take it. The scent doesn’t really linger for long after you’ve used it but it does the job and makes me feel nice and clean, so for £1.79 (and I got 2 bottles on a BOGOF offer) you can’t complain! It is in the Fruity Limited Edition range so it won’t be around for long but it is still available as I’m writing this post.

Next up is the Frank Body Original Face Scrub which is available in a travel pouch or full size tube (which is a handy way to try before buying the full-size version). I picked it up from ASOS for £5 and it seems to be lasting me well because you only need a small amount per use. I can really see and feel the difference after using this face scrub and considering it’s a coffee-based scrub it isn’t super scrubby but it definitely exfoliates well and my skin always looks visibly brighter after use. I also feel like it helps settle any active breakouts too. I would 100% recommend this if you’re looking for a nice face scrub.

I just had to include the Kristin Ess Weightless Shine Leave-in Conditioner which I discovered earlier this year (you can read my full Kristin Ess Haircare review here). Out of the products I was kindly sent, the leave-in conditioner was definitely my favourite as it just seems to work so well with my hair as it makes it look and feel really soft and smooth and also adds a nice amount of shine without going overboard and making my hair look greasy like some shine enhancing products can do.

As I’ve said before, I’ve always been a fan of video games since I was a child and I play video games as a way to just relax and also a way to take my mind off both my chronic pain and  a way to help ease my anxiety. I picked up Disney Dreamlight Valley on the Switch just after Christmas and it’s so good! It’s basically like Animal Crossing but with Disney characters and there are lots of quests to do for each villager, things to collect, and places to unlock and you can also decorate both your house and the valley too. It’s really fun and just a nice game to play when you just want to switch your mind off. There are also lots of free updates on the way which you can find more about over on their Twitter. It’s also available on PC, Xbox and PlayStation too. I would definitely recommend it if you like cosy relaxing games.

TW - Weight loss and calories

Another Switch game I’ve been enjoying recently is Ring Fit Adventure which I bought as a way to do some exercise at home because I really want to lose some weight and also help to build my overall strength up as I’m having issues with my back which is also making my chronic pain worse in that area. So Ring Fit Adventure is one of the things I’m using to help with weight loss and strength building. The main goal is to make your way through ‘Adventure Mode’ which is the main story mode where you run (on the spot) or do mini squats in silent mode through different worlds and you collect things along the way and ‘fight’ monsters by performing different exercises. You do this using the Pilates Ring that comes with the game which you attach a controller to so it picks up your movements and even your heart rate and there's also a leg strap that you pop the other controller into. At the end of each world is a boss battle with the main bad guy where you again, use exercises to defeat him and as you progress you open up more exercises to choose from to use in the fighting mode along with more worlds. Because the exercise is in a game format, it helps to keep you motivated because you want to complete the level you’re on and keep moving on through the different worlds. Away from Adventure Mode, there are also mini-games to play which require you to do different workouts usually over and over (i.e squats, overhead press etc), quick workouts focusing on certain areas, a rhythm dance mode and also a way to create your own workouts too. It’s a fun way to get some exercise in at home and I would 100% recommend giving it a try if you think it sounds like it's something you or someone you know would like.

Lastly is just a quick fave and recent food discovery which is the Fibre One 90 Calorie Birthday Cake bars which have become my go-to sweet treat since I started my health kick. If you have a sweet tooth like me but you’re watching what you’re eating then it’s a low-calorie sweet treat which really does help beat any cravings. I tend to have a bar along with a cup of tea in the afternoon as a little snack and it’s so yummy.
