My Time at Sandrock
My Time at Sandrock is the sequel to My Time at Portia which I really enjoyed playing and it tends to be on offer for as little as £4.99 on the Nintendo eShop these days. My Time at Sandrock is an RPG/Life Sim where you’re given a workshop by the previous owner in the picturesque desert location and it’s your job to help save the town from economic ruin. You can craft items, farm, mine and defeat enemies to get resources. There’s a town with a good mixture of townspeople to complete tasks for and build relationships with and a desert area to explore and collect resources from. If you like games like My Time at Portia, Stardew Valley and Disney Dreamlight Valley then this one is probably for you. It releases on the 2nd of November on Nintendo Switch and It also fully releases on PC and other consoles on the same date as well.
Let's Build a Zoo: Aquarium Odyssey DLC
Next up is Let’s Build a Zoo: Aquarium Odyssey DLC which is releasing on the 17th of August. Let’s Build A Zoo is a chaotic but charming management game with a difference. There are 60 base game animals with 10 colour variants each which are unlocked through breeding and/or exchanging with other zoos and there’s also a DNA splicing mechanic meaning there are more than 300,000 animals to create and add to your zoo. I do wish there was an option to run a zoo with regular-looking animals as well but that’s just personal preference. You will also be faced with moral dilemmas occasionally where you have to choose to do something either kind or something unkind and/or unethical which will either earn or lose you morality points depending on your choice. Your choices will also encourage what items you can upgrade via the research tree i.e. an on-site farm or wind turbines (good) or an abattoir (bad). The new Aquarium Odyssey DLC will, you guessed it… add marine life to your game with a new Aquarium Island to build your zoo, 50+ new animals and 110 new shops, facilities and decorations along with a new campaign and moral dilemmas. If you’re a fan of management kind of games and were obsessed with Zoo Tycoon when you were younger (like I was) then you will love Let’s Build a Zoo. It’s also available on PC and other consoles.
Dave The Diver
Dave The Diver is a single-player adventure RPG where you ‘Dave’ and his quirky friends go deep sea exploring and fishing during the day and then at night you manage an exotic sushi restaurant. The gameplay concept reminds me of Moonlighter where in the day you run a shop and in the night you go into the monster-filled dungeons to collect goods to sell in your shop. I really like this variety of gameplay and it can be quite addictive even though the concept is quite simple. Dave The Diver also has mini-games, side quests and multiple storylines. It will be arriving on the Nintendo Switch on the 26th October. There’s also a free demo available now.
Mineko’s Night Market
Lastly is Mineko’s Night Market which is a narrative-driven adventure game inspired by Japanese culture. You play as a young girl named Mineko, who has just moved to the Japanese-inspired island of Mount Fugu. The locals on the island worship the Sun Cat Nikko, who was believed to have just been a long-standing myth, however, there have been sightings of Nikko in the recent days. You have to dodge nosy agents as you explore the island and look for signs of the mythical Nikko, free the local cats which have been captured by the ‘bad guys’ agents, collect resources and craft items which you can sell at your market booth at the weekly Night Market, manage daily activities, complete quests, build relationships with the locals and more. It looks like a lovely cosy, relaxing game to play, perfect for the autumn. It will be released on PC and Nintendo Switch on the 26th of September and it will be released on other consoles on the 26th of October.
I hadn't heard of Mineko’s Night Market but it looks really cute, definitely has animal crossing vibes🌷Thanks for sharing!
