What I've Been Watching Recently...

In today's post, I wanted to share what I've been watching recently. This time, I have just 5 TV shows that I want to talk about, including one popular TV show that I felt a little let down about after really enjoying the previous seasons.

Sandtion
I finally sat down and watched the final season of Sanditon and I really enjoyed it. You could kind of figure out what was going to happen on the most part and the ending was a little bit rushed but it was still good. If you’re not familiar with Sanditon then it follows Charlotte Heywood, a young woman who after an unexpected invite moves from her rural family home to the old fishing town of Sanditon which the residents are hoping to make a seaside resort. During her time in Sanditon she meets an array of its residents, some nice, some not so nice, all of which have their own storylines going on. With Charlotte being quite naïve she tries to see the good in everyone which often leaves her confused or getting hurt. It has everything from comedy, some romance, family secrets and more. If you’re a fan of period dramas like Bridgerton and Downton Abbey then I’m pretty certain you’d like Sanditon. It’s available on ITVX.

Celebrity Race Across The World

Race Across The World is one of my favourite TV shows and this year they did a celebrity version for the first time ever. The four couples include Harry Judd of Mcfly and his mum Emma, Melanie Blatt of All Saints and her mum, British Racing car driver Billy Monger and his sister Bonnie and TV Weatherman Alex Beresford and his dad Noel. I really liked the selection of celebrities and I’m glad there were no show-off kind of celebrities and they all seemed pretty down to earth. In this season of RATW, they had to travel 10,000km from Africa to the Arctic and as always with RATW they have to do it with just the cost of the airfare without using a plane, bank card or smartphone. I can’t recommend Race Across The World enough if you haven’t seen it, it’s such a good show. All seasons are on iPlayer.

My Mum Your Dad

I don’t usually like reality dating shows, I really don’t get the hype over Love Island and Married at First Sight, the only dating show I kind of like is First Dates. So I was shocked that I enjoyed watching My Mum Your Dad. The concept of the show is eight single men and women have been nominated by their children to spend some time at a countryside retreat to try and give love a second chance. However there’s a twist, the children will be watching everything on the screen at a location close by and they have a say in who goes on dates together and who they think might be a match etc. I think the reason I liked it was because the single parents in the house were all looking for a genuine connection with someone and they were not in there for the fame or any sort of competition money etc. I just found it really wholesome and sweet, it was a little cringey at times but I can definitely deal with a bit of cringe. It’s also been confirmed by ITV that there will be a second season too.

Only Murders in The Building

I purposely didn’t watch Season 3 of OMITB when it was being aired each week because I thought I’d wait and binge-watch it in a couple of sittings instead. However, I’m really struggling with the new season. It’s just not as good as the first two seasons which I loved and binge-watched. I don’t know if it’s because the character who has died mysteriously in this season isn’t very likeable and has just kind of been placed in the show suddenly. There’s also a musical aspect of this season (I’m about five episodes in so I don’t know if that’ll change anytime soon). But I’m not a fan of musicals so I think that’s another reason I’m not enjoying it as much. Honestly, I’m not sure if I’m even going to finish watching it. It’s a shame because the first two seasons were so good.

The Great British Bake Off

I’ve been loving the new season of GBBO! I didn’t watch it last year as I just wasn’t in the mood to follow TV shows when it was airing because I had a lot going on so I think missing a year has kind of made me enjoy it more. I also love Alison Hammond on the show, she suits the role really well, it’s literally like she’s been on it since the beginning.
