4 TV Shows I’m Looking Forward To Watching in 2024

I thought I would share 4 TV shows returning to our screens this year and why I recommend watching them if you haven’t already. Three out of four of them are returning after a 1-2 year break, so I’m excited to see what’s next for each show.

Bridgerton

First up is Bridgerton, I personally love a period drama and Bridgerton has the right amount of everything going on in it. From general drama, love triangles, blooming romances, the social events, gossip and more. Season 3 focuses on Penelope Featherington and Colin Bridgerton’s relationship, with her sisters both married off and finally knowing where she stands with Colin, Penelope has decided that it’s time for her to take looking for a suitor more seriously, considering it’s her third year looking for someone. However, she has been occupied with other things (if you know, you know). In season 3 Colin decides to try and help Penelope to look for a suitor in a way to try and make it up to her after overhearing his harsh words last season, I’m guessing it will be kind of similar to the first season but they won’t have a fake relationship going on like in Season 1. You definitely need to have watched the previous seasons before the new season. I’m planning on rewatching the first two seasons before Season 3 comes out in May on Netflix.

Unsolved Mysteries

Another season of Unsolved Mysteries has finally been announced after an almost 2 year break. Unsolved Mysteries is a reboot of the 80s show and each episode is about a different case. There’s everything from missing person cases, unsolved murders to ufo sightings, ghostly apparitions and Bigfoot sightings. I’m really into all things paranormal so I’m hoping there is more paranormal episodes in the new season. There’s also a hotline at the end of each episode where people can phone or email in if they have any potential information for each case and I think a couple of cases from the previous seasons have been reopened or resolved because of the show. If you’re into true crime or paranormal tv shows then I would highly recommend Unsolved Mysteries on Netflix. There is no release date yet but I'm hoping it's within the next couple of months.

House Of The Dragon

I didn’t think I would get into House of The Dragon, especially after how bad the final season of Game of Thrones was. It kind of put me off wanting to delve back into the world of Game of Thrones and get invested in the characters again. However, I was hooked within about 10 minutes of the first episode. House of The Dragon is a prequel to GOT and mainly focuses on the Targaryen family. The first season focuses on who is going to be the heir to the throne after what unfolds in the first episode completely throws off the future of the Targaryen’s (I don’t want to say any more as I don’t want to spoil the beginning of the show). There are a lot of WTF moments in the show, probably even more than GOT. There’s also a time jump half way in which I thought would kind of ruin it but it actually worked really well. I can’t wait for season 2 to come out in June. It’s available on Sky/NOW.

The Hit List

Lastly is The Hit List which is a music quiz show hosted by Rochelle and Marvin Humes. Three pairs of contestants go head to head naming the song and artist being played to them whilst being up against the clock. There are three rounds in total and the songs go back to the 60s right up until the current year. It’s a fun, easy-to-watch interactive show. It’s definitely one to watch with other people. There are also sometimes celebrity specials when they’re playing for charity as well. Available on BBC iPlayer (and BBC1 when it's airing).
